Records a meeting on your Mac, transcribes it locally, and writes a recap with decisions and action items.
Audio and video never leave the machine. Transcription runs locally with
Whisper; speaker separation runs locally with pyannote. Only transcript text
is sent anywhere, only when a recap is requested, and --no-analysis turns even
that off.
Grab the latest .dmg from Releases, open it, and drag Minute
to Applications. The image is signed and notarised, so it opens without a
Gatekeeper warning — and offline, because the ticket is stapled rather than
fetched.
Minute updates itself after that. It checks daily, never during a recording or a transcription, and verifies every update against a key built into the app.
| Apple Silicon only | There is no Intel slice. M1 or later. |
| macOS 14 or later | Enforced by the installer. |
| ~2 GB on first launch | Minute downloads a Python runtime and the speech model before it can do anything. One time, and it shows progress. |
Recording and transcription are entirely local and work the moment you install Minute. The recap — the summary, decisions and action items — is the one part that talks to a model, so it needs one of these. Pick either; you do not need both.
If you have Claude Pro or Max, Minute can use it through the Claude Code CLI, which is where the sign-in lives. Install it, then sign in once:
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-codeclaudeThat opens a sign-in in your browser. Once it completes, quit it — Minute drives
it on its own from then on. Nothing else to configure: Minute finds the CLI even
though an app launched from Finder cannot see your shell's PATH.
Other install routes are on Anthropic's Claude Code docs.

Turn off Build a recap on the Record screen. You still get a full local transcript with speaker labels, and nothing leaves the machine at all.
To check which one Minute is using, open Settings → Recap backend.
Three, each at the moment it is first needed:
- Microphone — to record you.
- System Audio Recording — to record everyone else. Without it you get only your own side of the call.
- Screen Recording — optional, and only if you record a window or display alongside the audio.
Minute records meetings. Whether you may record a given meeting, and whether you must tell the other participants, is a question of law and of your organisation's policy — and in many places every participant has to consent. That decision is yours to make before you press record; the tool does not make it for you.
