Advancing safe, trustworthy, and clinically impactful AI for healthcare.

Welcome to the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (UM-IHC) Center for Applied AI (CA2i).

CA2i brings together expertise across artificial intelligence, clinical medicine, biomedical engineering, data science, and regulatory science to develop and translate AI technologies for healthcare. Our work emphasizes safe, trustworthy, equitable, and clinically meaningful AI, with a focus on bridging methodological research and real-world patient care.

The AI-Enabled Medical Imaging team, co-led by Dr. Heng Huang, PhD and Dr. Florence X. Doo, MD, MA, CIIP, focuses on the safe and sustainable translation of medical imaging AI into clinical care for patients across Maryland, the U.S., and worldwide. Our group combines the computational expertise of the University of Maryland, College Park with the clinical and regulatory science expertise of the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS).

This Github hosts software, research tools, models, benchmarks, and other resources developed through CA2i projects and collaborations. We welcome collaboration with researchers, clinicians, regulators, and other organizations working to advance the safe and effective use of AI in healthcare.
