Add Git AutoReview — AI code review for VS Code - #1792
Git AutoReview — AI code review extension for VS Code that uses three models (Claude, GPT, Gemini) to review pull requests for bugs, security vulnerabilities, and performance issues. Works with GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket.
Languages: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Go, Java, C#, Ruby, PHP, and more
Why it fits this list
Most AI code review tools auto-publish comments straight to your PR — no human filter, no way to catch when the model hallucinates. Git AutoReview takes a different approach: every AI suggestion shows up as a draft inside VS Code, and you approve, edit, or reject each one before it touches your pull request.
It ships with 20+ built-in security rules — SQL injection, XSS, hardcoded secrets, insecure crypto, path traversal, CORS wildcards, empty catch blocks — plus an AI security pass that catches logic-level vulnerabilities like auth bypasses and SSRF.
There's a free tier with 10 reviews/day, no expiry, no credit card. If you already have Claude Code or GitHub Copilot, plug in your API key through BYOK and the extension works at zero extra cost. Paid plans ($9.99/$14.99) add team features.
It also has a pre-commit review mode — you can review staged changes before they enter git history, not just after a PR is open. That's a shift-left approach that most tools in this list don't offer.
Checklist
Tool is actively maintained (regular updates)
Available on VS Code Marketplace with active installs
Hey folks — just checking in on this one. Happy to adjust the description or category placement if needed. The tool runs static analysis across GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket repos with configurable rule sets, so it felt like a natural fit for the multi-language section.
Hi! Bumping this as a friendly reminder — no pressure. The extension has been live on the VS Code Marketplace for several months and supports GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket (including Server/DC). Happy to adjust the entry format if anything needs changing.
This was closed by the stale workflow on Jul 22, not by review — could a maintainer reopen it? The submission is still current: the YAML in data/tools/ follows the checklist, and since filing the extension has passed 1,000+ installs across the VS Code Marketplace and Open VSX. Happy to rebase onto current master if that helps CI, or to adjust the entry if the guidelines have changed.
Note: Thanks for sharing your tool! For proprietary tools, please include public links in your PR description showing:
Code the tool has analyzed and the results.
Someone outside the team using the tool or reviewing it in detail.
That the tool has been publicly available for at least six months, and where to install or try it.
Marketing claims, download counts, or an older domain aren't enough on their own. We need these examples even if you've linked a GitHub repository.
Already included these? Thanks! A maintainer will need to review them; rerunning CI won't clear this check. If you need more time to gather examples, you're welcome to resubmit when they're ready.
