Cloudsmith Downloads

Extract Cloudsmith package download totals from an index page and render a stacked-bar chart per package name, grouped by version.

Installation

npm install

Quick Start

node index.js "https://cloudsmith.io/~org/packages/?q=..." ./output

Usage

node index.js <cloudsmith-url> [output-dir]

Arguments

  • <cloudsmith-url>: Cloudsmith index page URL (e.g. /~org/packages/?q=... or /~org/repos/REPO/packages/?q=...)
  • [output-dir]: Output directory (default: ./output)

Output

package-downloads.csv

One row per {package, version, format, arch} entry on the index pages:

Column Description
Package Name e.g. posit-chronicle
Version raw version string from Cloudsmith (e.g. 2026.01.0 for deb, 2026.01.0-1 for rpm)
Format deb, rpm, etc.
Arch arm64, amd64, x86_64, etc.
Downloads total download count for that entry
Uploaded At ISO timestamp if the index page exposes it, otherwise empty

downloads-chart.html

One stacked bar chart per package name, stacked vertically in descending order of total downloads. Within each chart:

  • X-axis: versions, chronological by upload date when available, otherwise natural version-string order. Versions like X.Y.Z (deb) and X.Y.Z-1 (rpm) are collapsed onto a single label.
  • Y-axis: download count.
  • Stacks: one segment per format-arch combination (e.g. deb-arm64, rpm-x86_64).

Testing

npm test
